Thought some of you might be interested in knowing that you can take a '75 olds 455ci v8 and swap it in to the '84 Sierra 350ci v8 2500 K body, keeping the 4-speed auto tranny w/overdrive and the transfer case and the existing exhaust (if you use headers). The tranny needs an adapter plate, the throttle linkage needs to be adjusted, and you need to fabricate your own motor mounts, but it works, for about $200 if you already have steel and an arcwelder. :2cents:

Not lucky enough to get the 455, but I was wonderin if U knew about any problems i'd encounter swapin' my 4.3 for a 5.0? I have an 89 Sierra with
coolant leaking from one head. I also have a bubble- body Caprice with a decent 5.0. Im thinkin' same throttle body .....swaperoo! Let me know If u hear anything

SGHETTO the throtle body and the injectors from all 305 and the 4.3 are spose to be the same as well as the ecm. Just check the service numbers on the ecm's. If the numbers are the same jackpot u have the same throtle bodies. The two engines have got to be TBI engines for the swap. All the wires should just plug right in you don't even have to change a thing in the harness. Good Luk Greg

besides all the wiring you would have to do and the lack of a front punkin the engine mounts should be the same if the truck (74/86 }originaly came with a 350turbo tranny it should bolt right up but here is the problem youre tranny is not a 700r4 but a 460le second if you are planning to make youre truck a 4x4 i would sugest taking a two wheel drive tranny and puting a devorced 205 transfer case under it becuas the newer style transfer case is on the wrong side of the truck for chevy/gmc of 74 /86 vintage if you plan on converting youre truck to a 4x4 you are further ahead to buy a 4x4 right off the bat and ether go with the devorced transfer or get an adapter to go from the 460le to a 205
