heres the dealio on my civic its 91 dx manual 157k miles
This happen to me last night after coming home from a trip and putting gas in it. I accidentily put in premium gas in it instead of unleadead but like its make a diffenrence. I was driving on the freeway after like 15 miles and my check engine light came on and soon after the battery light came on then my car just shuts off on me so i pull over and popped my hood and i couldn't find anything wrong with it at all. Its sitting at some garage and the tech guys couldn't even figured out the problem so im stuck on what to do next. He thinks some belts might have came off but everything was intac. Theres plenty of oil in the car we had battery power, raditor fluid was topped off no lose connections like spark plugs or battery termials nothing at all. And i just change the acc.relay less then a month ago.
But im just trying to see if anyone out there had problems like above. The car acts like it wants to turnover but i get this hissing sound like for 2 seconds and then the car won't turn over its wierd never heard anything before in my life . I hope some one out there can shed some light out there and get me some info thanks pe@ce richard

Hmm, that's a toughy - but the first thing I would check would be the timing belt (just to make sure). Are you getting spark and fuel?

u might have gotten sum bad gas. sounds like it. it does happen. try changing the fuel filter. the hissing sound, does it sound like a leaking vacuum line, or duz it sound like it's coming from inside the engine itself?

Did you run over a snake recently?

Just try suckins all the gas out of the tank and then refilling it with regular from a different gas station. Change your fuel filter and see if it starts up. If not, find out what codes the ecu is giving

I was getting spark and fuel when I tried to start it. The hizzing didn't sound like it was coming from any vacuum lines. But I can be wrong cause it was pitch ass black when I tried to trouble shoot. I think the dist.cap might be the problem. I have to wait and hear from the tech guy at the garage where my car is at. But I think he's tried everything you guys mention. I have to see if he fixed it over the weekend. If not im going to have to get a second opinion at another garage if he can't fix it. All make sure and update info as soon as a figured out what's going on thanks everyone for taking the time to write your replies pe@ce Richard
