Engine dying

My wifes 1995 Bonneville will shut off completely while driving. It does give a warning though. Just before the engine dies the gas guage will bing bing bing,, like it is getting low on fuel. Usually sfter a few minutes the engine will restart and run well. My wife says it seems to happen just after a refill. I am baffled as to what might be causing this intermittant problem. First that not the gas gage causing the problem... The ding ding ding you hear is the system monitor tellig you that you are either, low on fuel, low on voltage, have low oil pressure, low oil level and if the car has stalled the chime will go off almost instantly due to the oil pressure droping like a rock..

I get the feeling that the crank sensor may be going badon the car... But that may be something that would have to happen with the mechanic driving it to make a good determanation on it...

Is this Part an expensive one? Can a weekend mechanic replace it??

Could be loose or cracked plastic baffle inside the tank. Mine cracked in 3 places, separated from the shell and *&#@%d up the sending unit. Also, call the dealer and ask for copy of the TSB bulletin#92655 JUL92 Fuel-Momentary Loss of Power.

Sounds like the crank sensor to me as well. I had identical problems and replaced the cranked sensor.... problem solved for less than 80 bucks at a local shop.
