Installing 99 ranger ECU to 98 ranger

Hello everyone,
I have a 99 ranger ECU came from 3.0 automatic and i want to install to my 98 ranger 3.0 automatic 4X4. I'm wondering if the 99 ranger ECU will work on my ranger and will not create some problems in the long run. Please help before burn some wiring :). Regard to you all.
