Have 1996 Chevy Blazer 4X4..
My battery light has recently stayed on.. I replaced the battery and to no possitive results. Same thing. The voltage when tested on the battery shows 12 volts.
Yet the voltmeter on the dash indicates maybe 6 (in the red zone)..
Has anyone heard or seen this???
Please help..

Sounds as if your alternator has gone on vacation, in fact, I would bet on it and that is assuming that you have cleaned all the terminals and measured the voltage at the alternator output terminal.

I agree with Mikado14. Sounds like your alternator decided to take an eternal dirt nap. They're pretty easy to change. Good Luck

Thanks guys!!
I did measure the voltage at the terminals of the alternator.. Voltage was fine..
The alternator was replaced less than a year ago. Does the Blazer eat these guys up??

They don't normally eat them up unless you pull a lot of current or do something stupid to them. Usually the bearings will fail first, but have seen plenty with bad regulators.
Are you saying the voltage is fine at the output terminal of the alternator or at the terminals on the battery?
