no
i wouldnt do it
it could in extreme cases dislocate a limb and do other damge
a better suggetion would be to do is increase resistance from the center of your wasit
use a band attached to a fixed object and some explosive starts or run with a partner holding the bad behind you as resistance or use a small paracute

finally, the fitness section needed a football thread. I just finnished second varsity season, our team didnt do very well (3-6) but i got all-city and 1st team all-conference as an offensive lineman (guard). I dont know about all region or all state yet, they havnt been announced, i greatly doubt i got either tho, dont think im that good, and they hate giving those to juniors.
anyway as far as lifting goes the two most important parts for a lineman or linebacker are hip explosion and lower body strength. I work my lower body twice a week. On mondays i do lunges, squats, deadlifts, etc to build up my lower body strength, and on fridays i do my platform workout. Power cleans, hangcleans, pushpress, etc to improve my explosive strength.
I work my upper body on tuesdays and thursdays. I focus mostly on my chest and triceps, because biceps are not very important for a football player, and i work my shoulders on lowerbody days.
i do abdominal work every other day and jog 4-5 days/ week. Once winter is over i start sprinting/footwork, etc, but over winter i only jog/bike.
as far as dietary supplements go, if you are going to be lifting a lot you should look into some sort of Whey protien isolate, but beyond that (creatine etc.) is up to you.

If you're looking to bulk, eat until you can't eat anymore, then try and eat just a bit more. Get lots of protein, and if you can afford it try a creatine cycle. If you're doing that, and sleeping enough ( as well as obviously working out ), you'll gain some weight no problem.

Our team didn't do so well either. 1-7-2 this season. You dont do any winter sports? I hear wrestling is good if your a football player. Especially for a lineman.
