Selenoid Just Goes Click

My son bought a 93 t-bird, 3.8fi. The other day he drove it in the rain to my house...Now it won't start. I replaced the selenoid, but is still just makes one click and that is it. Tried jumping it, same thing. I think it might be the starter, but I've been a gm man most of my life. For the life of me I cannot find the starter on this thing...any help out there? Thanks, Joe

if you jump the sOlenoid from the battery cable,to the trigger switch,and it only clicks..then check the battery voltage and be sure it is fully charged,if it is then the sOlenoid is n/g...if you have any doubts about the starter,remove it and jump it on the ground hooking up a set a jumper cables.DO NOT bang the started aas Ford starters have magnets in them and if they 'come out of place',you may as well buy a new one anyways...ford sOlenoids are junk,lol

Out of 6 Fords, never a problem. Not even with the starter relay.
Ford starters have magnets
All starters have magnets in them and you'd have to hit one pretty hard to have anything come loose in any starter. But any magnet hit hard enough can lose its magnetic attraction.
Check and clean the battery terminals, the terminals at the solenoid, and the terminals at the starter. This includes the wires. If all of your connections are clean and tight and your battery is good, then start checking other items.

have you tried jumping battery pole to starter pole on the starter relay?
also look under the dash on the drivers side, your car may or may not have one but what you'll be looking for is a little chip that can be pulled out/replaced as an anti theft device. make sure its pushed all the way in (if your car has it) dunno anything about it, if it was a ford option or aftermarket. had a 91 3.8 cougar that had it and caused what you describe.

When i first got my car we had to put a new battery in. The old pos terminal cracked just a little bit on top when we took it off. The with the new battery in alls it would do it click, with the cracked termnal. I got 2 new termianls for like $1.00 each. They are nice lead ones, thats all it took to make her fire right up.
