HI,
I have a 2004 Taurus SE and am going to be heading 6 hrs north of Winnipeg,Mb,Canada for a week in early January. I need to know if my car came with a block heater or will I need to purchase one.

I don't know about the 2000 and newer buy my 99 has one and the plug comes out of the lower front grill.

For only a week? Unless there is another reason you haven't disclosed, hang a couple of 100W light bulbs near the block, they will cut the chill enough.

it was an option that could be placed on any trim level of taurus. Look for the plug. If you don't have one you might just want to pray for the best or rent a car once you get too far north.

From what I know of block heaters they basically heat the oil pan, so it is easier to crank the motor with a higher viscosity fluid than the molasses in the car when the temps are well below freezing. If so, I would suggest you put synthetic oil in your car to take advantage of its low temp viscosity characteristics.
