I recently had some autobody work done on the my Jeep. They disconnected the battery and maybe something else. Towards the rear left near the windshield wiper fluid I noticed a wire that is not hooked anywhere. The wire comes out out of another group of wires(they are secured to the rear of the hood compartment, wrapped in black plastic wire protector) right between the wiper fluid compartment and a small black cyclinder. I noticed a clicking within this small cyclinder as well. My question is two fold: Does that wire need to be hooked up anywhere, I couldn't find anything? Is the noise from this small cyclinder related to the wire or something else? I have the Haynes and Chilton's books but they are no help. Any suggestions. By the way I had to repalce the battery because they did not hook the terminals up tightly and by the time I noticed it the battery drained.

Hi - I too have a 96 sport, and I have the same loose wire near the same clicking cylinder. It's been there since I bought it. It runs fine - I don't worry about it. If yours is running, well, I would suggest the same...

I have a '96 SE model. I'll have to check this out and see if I can be of any help. I can't say that I remember any clicking noise or loose wire under the hood.
