need advise on motor swapping!

Hi ALL, I'm a newbie And looking to get my 88 4runner back
on the off/road and I was wondering if putting a 86 ToyotaPU
motor in place of my existing one- is this a common solution? replacement
will cost $175-200 plus moveing it.
any help would be appreciated
