suddenly with the cold cold weather in the morning my 94 toyota
pick-up 114000 miles, cranks a lot but wont start, then it sputters on one or two attemps and after a 4 to 7 tries it starts. this is only a cold temperature start, and first time in the morning. I am guessing it is a sensor? but I dont know what or where. IF this was the old days and it had a carb I would suspect the choke. I dont know what goes on with fuel injection this is the first time I have thought of it.

the 22 re motors have five injectors. The four main ones, the fifth one is a cold start injector. It's located on the right side(as you look at it) of the plenum, around the middle. That's the first place you should start. Check your wiring, maybe run some injector cleaner through your fuel system.

My '91 pickup (125000 miles) was doing the same thing a couple weeks ago with the first cold spell - took several times to start and then really didn't want to stay started. It was no problem once it warmed up. I thought it might be the cold start injector, but someone suggested it might be water in the gas. I added a bottle of fuel additive with water remover and it hasn't given me any trouble since. 'Course, we'll see what happens when it gets REALLY cold...
