Possibly for a nice car to redo and make into a nice track killer or project car.
1994 thunderbird witht he v8 in it. it has 253,431 miles on it, and it has a problem where if you drive the car for an extended period of time, it won't start right away....
interior is in excellent condition, well kept. everything else on the car is good, except for the paint, the clearcoat is fading off, giving it that whitish look on it.
they are asking 700 obo for it, I got them down to 550......
all help and advice from the experts like you guys would be greatly appreciated.

If you plan on making it a track car, or project car, then I wouldnt worry about that problem. Are you planning on swapping the engine/trans? I dont think a drivetrain with that many miles will last long on the track. Id pay the 550$ for it, and put a new drivetrain, and you will probably knock out that starting problem in the midst of redoing all your wires/hoses/this/that/the other... sounds like a deal to me.

Honestly, unless you're going to put lots of money into it, don't buy it. Me, i got a 95 4.6 V8 bird, that was very well kept, it has alittle over 125K miles, and everything is sound. But damn, over 200K is ALOT of miles on the ENTIRE car. Great track car though, if you want to remove all non-needed parts to lighten her up, do what rick said, drop a new engine in it-AND manual tranny, that would be worth it..
In the end, you could have gotten a stock 5.0 89 LX hatchback stang that would kill it... So i really don't see the point.

get a markVIII drive shaft too. whether its gonna be a track car or not. If its gonna be for the track theres a lot of ways to reduce weight, somewhere in this forum is a post that says about 10 ways to supposedly lose 600 pounds. I dont really believe you'll lose that much, but you'll lose some. Also, there are some luxury suspension pieces that you wont need on the track.

easy to reduce them by 600 pounds. Seats, headliner, pillar trim, carpet, sound deadener, parts of the dash, console, etc. If all you plan on doing is running it at the track, not a bad buy, in my opinion. You're going to have to redo the whole drive train anyway. You'll pay that much for just a good block to build.

my plans center on rebuilding the trans, or seeing if a atx from a mustang or even a mtx from a stang would bolt in. I was going to buy a crate 4.6 of rip one from a stang, if it would fit, and rebuild that up.
I do not know if the tranny/engine combo's from a stang would fit easily into it, that why I came to the guru's of this forum.

I drove to the area that they said the car would be in, to do a test drive. I drove around that area, for 25 minutes, and never once saw the car. I had called them and told them I would be there at 2pm......
got home, no one answered the phone, and as of yet, no one has returned my calls.
