I have been driving a cavalier for years--great car--and, am used to close to the top power brakes...now on the Sonata the brakes are pretty low and spongy--any fellow Sonata owners out there that have experienced this?? Lets talk....Ed

What year Sonata is it. The pedal feel is going to vary b/t makes and models, but it doesn't mean your car is unsafe. There is a guy that brings his Suzuki XL7 into our dealership all the time swearing that there is something wrong with the brakes on it because they are softer than the ones on his full size Chevy truck, but we always have to have him drive a brand new one to show him that it's the same with all of them, and there is nothing wrong. I bought my wife a 2003 Sonata LX. With the four wheel disks, there is a little harder pedal than on the ones with drums in back. I've driven both as demos, and thats just the way they are. I was accustomed to GM brakes as well, since thats pretty much all I've owned my whole life. Can't beat the GM employee discount. If it's an older model, and the brakes are real spongy, then there could be a problem, but without more info I can't help you for now.

when i first drive my 2002 accent, i too thought the brakes were a little soft, and that was compared to a 1986 ford escort.
