project/daily driver 240sx

i have 1 1/2 till im 16 and my goal was to sell the car i get which is a 2002 volvo s60 and get a job and save money and use my money i have been getting from grandparents (10000$ somewhere around there) and buy 2 240sx(s) and have one for a project car and the other for a daily driver. i cant make up my mind should i turn my first project car into a s15 conversion with a sr20det for shows like sema or should i turn it into a drifter and make my 1st daily driver into a show car???? and then after they are done just buy another daily driver and sometime make it a project car???

o the 1 1/2 is how many years

why not learn how to drive first

get a cheap honda 5speed or something, then sell that and make YOUR decision

yea he obviously hasnt lived enough to learn he will have to pay for other stuff with that money....like insurance and on 2 240s at a 16 year age thats going to be some scrilla. But i remember when i was your age i was going to have sweet car"s" with huge systems, turbos, a ghetto cruiser with hydros and all the money to pay for it.....but then reality slapped me in the face and said your a newbie to life and washed those ideas out of my head. OK, man, you promised to stop lying to us, but you started up again.... I thougth I was going to get a S14 when I wasturning 16, you know what I'm getting (I'm 17 now) a rusted out, beat up, 1991 Mercury Topaz, that's reality for ya! Oh, but it's a powerhouse car, 83hp (that's crank, not wheel) and automatic, I beat a 1000hp Supra!!......(there was no one in his car, but that's a secret.) So the point is, your life is going to suck, like everyone else's here, unless you're a rich kid, in which case I hate you.

if he really wants a 240 that bad he could get one when I turned 16 I bought my 96 240sx from working my ass off when I was 15. I paid 7300 for it...every dollar out of my savings account and now I have a sr20 with lots of mods and a s15 conversion kit. So he could do it if he really wanted to.

You probably making good money, what was your job? I'm making 7$ an hour (minimum wage in quebec) and with 30 hours a week for 3 months, i have a about 500$ in savings, if i worked my ass off, id maybe have 1000$, thats not much

i work at goodyear making about 300 a week and then for two days I work at a hardware store making about 120..

this kid reminds me of me back then, my hopes were high n really wanted something nice. . .now i'm STILL looking for a decent 240 (around a year now) while trying to find another job =\

the S60 is a sweet ride even the N/A. S60 is 565097 times better car for a kid then a 240. Hell the turbos are pretty quick and the R i wouldn't reccomend to a kid.

lol ace i thought intakes did add 25hp thats y i installed four intakes on my car for a 100hp increase...guess ill take them off now. yea this kid is has yet to experience life yet. But ace the only thing i have to disagree with on your post is that you recommend other cars...yes there maybe other cars out there better suited for kids but people dont get whats "better" suited they get what they want. I mean im sure a geo prizm is good for any kid to drive first but would you waste your money on one because its better suited for you? No, thats not human nature. Thats how i see life(so far).

i think what he means by a show car is something with lambo doors and hard core stero systems and costom interior and all those things on a sema car.

forget it... don't touch the 240sx if you want a show car. It's a disgrace to the name. i remember back in high school after people starting getting their licenses for the first time... we all talked about our dream cars and how soon we'll be able to obtain them. psssh... then reality hits. I worked my ass off during high school at a gas station and a transporter job at a rental car lot all summer after my first year in college. Only then did i fully realize the value of money and how hard it is to get what you want. Being a full-time college student... isn't exactly the way to go if you have an expensive hobby like cars. but hey i manage. After years of searching i finally found a S13 fastback 5-spd that was in pretty nice condition. i'll stop talking about it there since it might get long. haha.

anyway, it's good to have goals, but we're all trying to warn you beforehand... it's not as easy as it seems.

wow so he has 10000 and he thinks that 10 grand will be able to buy him 2 240s and make on of them a show car? yes you could buy 2 240's for 10 g's but u cant buy 2 and still have enough cash to make on a show car or a drift car this kid smokes crack. and if he isnt smoking crach he much live close to a nucleur power plant or some shit like that may he was exposed to asbestos as a young child i dont know but i do know that i hate him more then the rash i got last weekend

If u really have the 10 Gs for ur car then I don’t think u can fully mode 2 240s. Don’t worry about the mod thing. U have the money right? That’s usually the hard part. Wait till u graduate then u will know allot about the car and then , who knows, u might change ur mined all together about the 240z

I don't know if you're lyin' or not. If I were you, I would do a lot of research on the 240. There's a lot of information out there, but I would have to agree with a lot of these posts: you want to DRIVE the 240, not show it! They are pretty sweet cars. I graduated from high school a couple years ago and I have almost no money now. So be careful! Insurance will kill ya' if you're not careful. If I were you, I would buy ONE 240 and do some basic mods to it. Save up some money too because you might be able to buy something even better in the future.
