Stereo Resetting Problem#2

I have read the other thread in this forum on the same topic... that a cd/stereo that resets itself every time the key is taken out of the ignition is the result of "bad wiring".

But I have this same problem with my new stereo, and the solution provided in the other thread is not possible...

That is, my stereo has only 3 connections: the 2 ISO plugs, and the antenna. There is no additional wire available to ground(?) the unit. So I'm a little confused as to what I might be doing wrong here?

I'm not familiar enough with Swedish radios to advise. Most newer VW's will have a power (12V DC) source all the time for memory and another that is switched power from the ignition. If the question is that you don't have a schematic on how to correctly wire in your aftermarket unit, try looking for a guide on the internet. Alot of manufacturers have thm available online.

My guess is that this Swedish radio unit is pretty standard anywhere - I know they sell them across all of Europe (dunno though, would Sony or Alpine have different car stereos for different markets? - my thought was that they were all standard across the planet?).

As far as the wiring went - I didn't have to do a thing; there were ISO plugs already installed in the car (stereo area) that simply plugged in to the ISO plugs on the radio... it was fullproof and failsafe, as they could only plug into each other in one way. No harder than connecting a Video Monitor to your computer - the plugs only fit 1 i/o in one direction...

I was trying to find a picture/description of the ISO plugs, and seem to have stumbled across the answer to my problem ;)

Thanks nonetheless!
