Working on a 1999 Jeep Gr Cherokee. Rear end hops around when making sharp turns. Took out the x-fer case and replaced the viscous coupler. Didn't help. Could the new VC be faulty? Any suggestions? Could use emmediate help. Thanks...

no I don't think it is the VC, if it was the VC u would have binding and hopping in the front end.
I doubt if it's gonna help but try changing the Differential Fluid in the rear diff. and pay close attention to the old fluid check for metal flakes. and look at the Ring and Pinion gears look for any chipped teeth and such.

I didn't knwo the WJ's had a VC, I thought they were equipped with Quadra-trac II. Which uses a gerotor clutch gear to engage the 4wd mode.

Change the fluid in the rear Diff and use Synthetic oil and add a friction modifier for the Track Lock Diff. Thats why your Rear End is Jumping.

The WJ doesn't have a VC. Are you sure the year is correct?
