lowering kits

hey y'all.... i'm lowering my dodge durango... and as i was asking how they WERE GONNA DO IT..... i thought it involved front shocks n all of dat...but they said they were only puttin a lowering kit on it... n e body knows how dat works? wat parts or wat they do to lower it?
