Carb Question

My 70 Ca-moneypit has a Holley 4160 in it that is in need of some serious overhauling or replacement (I think some parts are actually missing on it :shakehead ).

Looked in Jeg's - liked the Edelbrock Performer series 750 CFM, electric choke. Have no idea what CFM the Holley runs.

Anyone give me any assistance on whether it's better to replace or rebuild, and if I'm headed in the right direction as far as which model to buy? AND how hard it is to install one of these? :eek7:

Seems to me that it's cheaper and easier to replace: getting a brand new carb, probably a better model, etc...

Holley or Edlebrook, both great products. Personaly, on my Nova, everything is edlebrook, but the real only reason is that my dads friend gave me a 200$ carb for free from edlebrook.

Oh and its not hard at all to install.

i personally like edelbrock but have heard the holley demons are great.

if i was you i would probably put an edelbrock on it. personaly i love quadrajets because of the way the primarys and secondairys are set up, so you could buy one of edelbrocks quadrajets, or if you want a really great card, look into JET performance. they will tune it for your spacific aplication for you. or you could just stick with a regular AFB style edelbrock. i would stay away from holley's unless you want to spend a few hours trying to tune it bceuase they dont just bolt on and go, for the most part. edelbrock stuff is usualy alot easier when it comes to that. most the time they are very close, providing you dont over or under carb it extreamly.

and yes demon's are very good, but they are not holleys at all. they are made by barry grant. they usualy also require a fair amount of tuning for your spacific aplication.

yes holley need lots of tuning. im running a 600cfm manual choke edelbrock myself and its very easy to tune and works great.
