1988 ford bronco 2

I have a 1988 ford bronco 2,2.9L V6 one day while running down the road it died from lack of fuel I changed the fuel filter 1st then the internal fuel pump in the gas tank under the vehicle I see it has a external pump on the frame plus it has some kind of canister before it goes to the fuel filter I cannot get it to run there is no gas going to the front of the engine compartment what would be the best way to lick this problem does the external pump when the key is turned on and is it possible that the canister is plugged up need some help here

are you saying that you have two pumps? im not an expert but i dont thing that you need both
if you already replaced the internal pump you can bypass the external (just connect the lines with a hose or pipe) and try to start the motor

Hopefully you have already solved this problem. If not, check out the contacts on your interia sensor switch. It's designed to shut off the fuel flow when the vehicle is in a crash.

Cleaning the contacts may solve your problem(it did with mine).

I have an 87 Bronco II and it has two and they are there for a reason, so don't try to bypass the one ont the rail. That is the high pressure and the one in the tank is the low pressure. Two filters too... one is in a canaster looking thing before the pump on the rail * use a oil filter thingy to remove it, it unscrews* and the other is a high pressure after the one on the rail. We changed out ours and the FUEL PUMP REGULATER SENSOR went out as well. It would run for a minute, minute and a half then die. It is under the "snow shiled" on the left fender *looking at the truck*... I have had my little bronco for 9 years... so I have a small idea of what I am talking about....

hope you have solved this by now ... also have 88 bronco II and just went through the same thing ... think three letters - TFI ... when it gets hot (and it is in the warmest place in the engine compartment), it can break down and send wrong message to eec and shuts down fuel ... often will restart after it cools down sufficiently, but stall again when it reheats ... can be removed without pulling distributor and resistance checked ... should be more than 975 ohms or less than 800; between 800 and 975, it is bad and needs to be replaced

I have a bronco 2 1988 with starting problems. It starts after 6 or 7 seconds of cranking and with a strong smell of fuel. But it has no problem starting after being off for several days. It has good fuel pressure in the fuel rail, I'm not sure if the injectors are not closing all the way when off, letting fuel to go in the chamber while the engine is off. I don't know how it works exactly.
