Apparently the brake lights work fine when the headlights are not on. Again, when the headlights are on and the brake pedal is depressed the third brake light comes on but the lower two do not - tail lights also go out. Any info appreciated.

I'll give anything a shot but what do cheap, factory bulbs have to do with an intermittent problem. Seems to me that either the bulbs are blown or they're not.

How's that relate to the headlights being on or off?

I have to admit that, although willing to try, I was somewhat doubtful. Got up this morning, pulled the light assemblies, inspected and reinstalled the old bulbs after bending out the terminals and ops checked the system. Everything appears to function properly. If you ever find yourself in the Athens, GA area let me know and I'll buy you the beverage of your choice - two if you can help find the lower, driver's side screw that I dropped.
Thanks for the help
