1996 BMW 328i Climate Control is intermittent

I have a 1996 328i and am having trouble with the climate control. Sometimes it works and sometimes it goes "dead". It appears like the head unit isn't getting power and then all of a sudden it comes back on. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

I had this problem and I went on ebay looking for a new one. There is a guy there that has constant auctions. For $50 you can send him your and he will fix it, works great!

I tried doing it myself and it did not work. What a mess. I then sent my climate control unit to the guy selling the service on ebay. His ebay name is ccobsinc. This guy repaired the mess I created and it works mint now.
