You're going from a 6 year old Chevy truck to a brand new performance sedan, did you expect the insurance to go down?

Yeah, but even being under 21 can make a huge difference, not to mention an traffic citations or accidents in the past.
My bro-in-law pays more insurance than me, but he has more moving violations in a year than I have had in 10 years, and I have a 2003 Impreza and he has a '96 Breeze.

Dude, that's ridiculously expensive.
I'm over 25, married, have comprehensive, collison, and everything with 1 million umbrella liability coverage, and it's about $1800 for '04 WRX...
You must have some shady driving history. It might not be a good idea for you to have a fast car--you'll most likely pick up more citations or you'll kill someone or yourself.

Hey Catas kiddo...
Just in case you didn't realize, I have been under 25 before, you know. I wasn't paying $325/month. It's not the age. (well it has a lot to do with it, but that ain't the main reason here). Especially if that's "basic" coverage, as he puts it. Keep it up, your spelling and grammar is marginally improving.

theres some good points here. i need to fix that insurance price to $250/mth or around 1200/6mths. It is still quite ridiculous. i guess it is because im in the younger crowd and for the information, my record is clear but for a speeding ticket(72 in a 55.) The state farm rep said that it is as high as it is because of kids wrecking fast, fancy cars which makes the company have to pay for them. sucks, its still cloudy of what is going to happen.

thats why my insurance is 200. im 18, and drive a not only fast but turbo car. its just the way things are :/ the more expensive the car, the more insurance is. the only good thing about the younger people having wrx's and evo's is that they are 4 door, and have amazing saftey features. thats the only thing we really get a break on.
i do have a speeding ticket (72 in a 60), but for some reason i dont think the cop turned in his papers. i didnt have the cash to pay it then so he said i had 30 days. so....its been 2 months now and i still havent paid it. i havent heard anything from the local PD, and ive had my lisence run 3 times in the last month and they havent said anything. they ran it the first time for an accident i had where i wrecked my previous car (not at fault), they ran it the second time when i got a ticket for my step father leaving the gate open and my 10mo old pit bull got out and was playing with another dog down the street, and then when i went to pay the ticket for my dog they ran it through the police database at the police department through the main computers. noone said anything about it. im stupid for not paying it....but i dont need a lecture guys :D.

Turbo shouldn't make a difference in your insurance. The things that count towards insurance are:
# of doors
# of seats w/belts
# of airbags
HP rating (but only after something like 300hp)
alarm systems
replacement price of vehicle
age
tickets
accidents
PS- I'm 24, and I've got one ticket. 24y/o males get the same rates as 18y/o males, usually. 25 is the changing point (6 more months, man, can't wait). My insurance is still hella low.

I think "HP" is high-performance, and not Horse power.
Apparently WRX is "HP" according to USAA.

Damn....most of ya pay alot..but probly have families.
I'm 28
I pay $74 a month for me Subaru ins. full coverage, and 750thou. for the umbrella ( me being sued for somethin) $347 for the payments at 4%. 2.5rs
Now If I got the WRX it would've been $136 a month Ins. and $426 for my payments. :disappoin
I wanted the WRX but just couldn't afford it. I wanted Subaru so I got the 2.5 RS. Which in time will be performing at or better than a WRX :naughty:

I hate this insurance thing because that's the whole reason i got an 05 rs instead of a 03 wrx because i'm 16 and have to pay for insurance. the rs since it isn't turbo its down to about 1800 yr. but for a wrx for me is 4000 yr. I'll just turbo the rs later w/o the insurance guys knowing bout it.

Of course, then if you're in an accident, they can refuse to payout since your car was modified and they weren't notified.

Have you thought about not getting the car if you can't afford the insurance?? Or not modding to a point where the insurance could be void?? Those are some logical options.

i know this. i might not spend 2k on a turbo and another 2k for the other stuff for the turbo. I might just save for a raodster bracket car and make this one look tight. Again a good roadster cost bout 15,000-20,000 rolling.
I got this car because i needed a car with good mileage, great in the snow, low insurance(rs), and a car that looked pretty cool.

Well, down here in Aus, I was quoted for a 04 RS and a 02 WRX as both being the exact same premium.
I think the main thing they calculate it on is the amount the company has to give to you if you crash, this is deduced from the fact that both vehicles are worth the same. Then they take into account the likelihood of them having to pay that. So if you want a ballpark figure, just think about that, high value car = high premium. Which will be offset, either increase or decrease based on likelihood of claiming. Young turbo driver = high chance.
My conclusion is that, the excesses are so high anyways, and the stigma you get from claiming from an insruance company (e.g. your premiums will go up), the only thing worth claimnig for is if your car gets stolen. So comprehesive insuance is pretty useless. If you do 2000$ worth od damage to your car, it's pretty much not worth it to claim. That's how these companies make money! I don't know if it is available in america, but here in aus, thrid party prop, fire and theft insurance is generally enough IMO and it's only 1/5th of the price of comprehensive.
