Weird stuttering while accelerating my 405

Ok, a friend just bought a 1994 405... the car is almost brand new  Like 40,000 miles on it... everything works perfectly fine, except something weird happens when he accelerates the car gently... the car kind of stutters a few times before it starts to accelerate... he needs to push the pedal a bit more for the car to react... doesn't happen everytime, but he gets it at least 10 times a day...

We've been thinking it might be a dirty fuel filter or the timing being off, but I don't know much about this engines (peugeot)... anybody have a clue what could be causing this?

hi there !
i have a 95 peugeot 405 !
does it do that when accelerating or even when you press gas while the car is idling !?

it is probably the fuel filter !
BTW : 405 hesitates when it is not warmed up !

Thanks for your reply... I have another question, do you know what kind of spark plugs and the amount of gap I should use when replacing them?

Thanks in advance! :)

i just use the genuine peugeot plugs specific for my 405 !!
remember the genuine ones not the france imported ones !

they are already regapped and better that all the other bullshit out in the market !
the replace them every 20000km and i have no problems with them ! and they don't cost a lot !

if you need any help with the 405 just ask here or PM me and i'll try to reply as soon as possible !

BTW : it 's a great car ! i have a 95 405 and it has 97000 km and damn this car is really reliable :)
