Need to know where Iat(intake temp. sensor plug) on a 94' 3000gt

can any one help me i need to find my intake sensor plug.they say it's neer the intake tubing or neer the throtal body?any pics would help.any help would help. thanks.

The intake temp sensor is built inthe MAS/MAF. SO unless you have an aftermarket one its not near your throtle body.

Here is a pic as if you were standing on the passenger side of the engine bay. The plug you are looking for is circled in red

if you're looking for the IAT sensor b/c you bought that 'resistor mod' off e-bay, then have fun installing it. i fell prey to that crap, and b/c the installation directions were not vehicle specific, i had no idea what to do. and b/c the IAT sensor is build into the MAS module, its sorta hard to hook up. but if this is your case and have success, please post back and let us know.

The resistor chips are crap...if you bought it on ebay, save yourself some time and just toss it in the trash...I've posted my feelings on chips...especially ebay resistors over 20 times, so if you search through my old posts, I'm sure you wont have trouble finding out why they suck.

And no, that isn't my car, I found the pic on the internet, my car is red, not white, and is in much better condition..even the engine bay.

ya, i figured it was crap when i got it with the nonspecific vehicle installation directions. i bought it a year ago when i was rather uneducated in basic performance upgrades and wanted horsepower for cheap. i still have it somewhere. if you wanna buy it from me...you could throw it in the trash while also helping me recover from that $20 financial pit i stepped into?! how does that deal sound!

The way the resistors work is the tell the car that it is a different temp out than it is, resulting in a different timing than it should be. In theory it advances the timing, which is good unless it causes your car to knock. I have no idea what actually happens. And BTW, you can pick up the resistors at radioshack for under a buck.

ya, i now know you can pick em up for a buck, but where and how would you install it? i've heard hook it up to the IAT sensor, but that sensor is integrated, along with other sensors, into a huge plug. would we just have to insert the resistor into the plug as a series circuit connection?

lol, I have also fallen prey to the resistor senor thingy. But as others have too, I'm having problems installing the ^%$! thing. I have a 99 SL, so if anyone can help me out in this area please do tell. Oh and just so everyone knows I didn't get ripped 20 bucks for it like LineBckr49. No hard feelings?? :)

Yes you just cut the sensor wire for it and put it in series.

However, I do not recomment doing this mod without someway to monitor what is going on, esp on a turbo car.

I know what you mean by "in series" but for some reason, I'm not able to picture what your talking about. Please a little more depth for those who don't have years of experience in wiring. ( I only have about 6 months)

It doesn't matter if you paid a dollar or $400 for the resistor/chip, it is still a POS, so even if you got an amazing deal on it...it still isn't a good idea for your car...that was his point. I mean, mod as you want to...but I just don't see why anyone would do this after they know what it does and doesn't do...I mean I don't want to come off as a prick, but it is a universal resistor...it doesn't know and wasn't designed to work with your fuel maps...so without monitoring it, it could seriously screw up your pistons...IMHO, if you are going to mod, you should mod safely as 4,000hp is worthless on the side of the road.

lol, yeah don't do stupid mods like resistors, or tricking the computer, unless you know everything about what you're doing, and if you don't even know where the sensor is, I doubt you know everything. In addition to your pistons, it could bend or break your valves and rods, and as soon as one of those items breaks its a fast downhill fall to a seized/useless engine. The cons of it outweigh the pros by about a ton. :)

whew, you guys came down harsh, thas ok tho, I've already thrown that d*mn thing out. I figure I'll just do an air intake kit....

Link didn't work very well. Had to cut and paste it into the browser. And that seems a little expensive for something they didn't put a pic for and you have no idea that it will fit right, Jut get the filter and adaptor the stock piping is pretty wide.

Just realize that you will have to modify it a bit if you have ABS (read fine print). I'm with Thourun on this one.

They have a generic pic, the things in the pic are not what would work on our cars, I got it to come up but I had to cut and paste it into IE.
