slow as shit

i got a 1989 bird v6 ya i know. when i floor it from a stop it just kinda sputters till it gets to 25mph then it starts hauling ass and at about 40mph it squeals into second any ideas why its such a dog off the line it kinda sounds like its pinging it just had a tuneup (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and the timing was reset)all was done by myself

Well i would look into the trans first. See if the fluid is ok, not burnt. May be time for a new torque converter. Should be an AOD but not totally sure. But that wouldn't explain the pinging. Try some fuel injector cleaner? Some good gas? I am at a loss. I can't think of anything besides a computer problem for that.
