I no nothing about Fiero's ! Please don't laugh at my questions.
I have a 1984 Fiero sitting in my back pasture with missing front wheels.
Here are my questions!
1. Is the engine in the front or back of car?
2. Where is the hood latch located?
3. Are their difference's in engine size?
4. Are replacement parts expensive?
5. Is an 84 Fiero with a nice body worth the trouble and expense?
6. Would parting it out be a better option?
7. Is a Fiero front or rear wheel drive?
Answering any or all of these questions would be most helpful.
Thanks, Gary T

OK....answers....
1. The engine is in the back of the car.
2. The hood...in front...latch is located under the air vents in the dash, to the left side of the steering wheel, and the hood opens forward. The trunk release, if equipped, is an electrical button to the right of the steering wheel. Otherwise, you only have the key hole in the lid.
3. All Fiero's had either a 2.5 liter - 4 cylinder, or a 2.8 liter - 6 cylinder. The '84 was only equipped with the 4 cylinder.
4. Replacement parts can be expensive, but for the most part, they are relatively cheap and can be found in abundance, since a lot of them are found on most other GM vehicles of the same era.
5. It's mostly personal opinion....I think any fiero is worth the trouble, but I personally stick with the V6's.
6. Depends on what you want to do...Since it's an '84, unless it's an Indy Fiero...there are no parts on it that are really worth "a lot" of money. So it may be better to sell it whole, or fix it up.
7. It's rear wheel drive.

The sum of the parts are worth more that the total of the car. Most all body panels are interchangable with the other years Fieros. Only if the parts are in good condition. But a car sitting in a back pasture is probably not worth much.

The A/C controls on the dash are pretty clear. Another obvious sign is the A/C accumulator (big silver can like thing) mounted to the firewall in the spare tire compartment up front.

My 86' doesn't have air, so I was thinking of adding it. Would you consider selling your parts car when you're done? besides A/C I'm also watching for parts cars that have:
Power Windows/Locks
Power Mirrors
Remote Decklid Release
Premium Sound
GT Front bumper cover (85 preferred)
Rocker Panels
Complete matching set of door and decklid lock cylinders, with key
Front Pegasus emblem in excellent condition
Black or grey dash !! without cracks under the vents !!

By the time I'm done with my parts car, it will be just a pile of parts....not a car. :) but really the only thing that I'd have that you'd be interested in is the A/C parts....it took me 3 years to come across my extra GT front bumper, so I wish you luck in finding one! I only have a spare driver side rocker panel...I'll have a spare 2.8 block and auto transmission, which I have no idea of any history of. I don't know if it could run or not. Also all parts that go along with an automatic tranny will be extra.

drill out the lock for the engine compartmentabout a 3/8" drill will get rid of all the guts and then a screwdriver should be all you need to get in engine compartment.

i assume you will retrofit to R-134a, since R-12 will cost you an arm and a leg

When you get the trunk opened - pull the carpet away from both sides at the top and check in there for rust. If it's been sitting for a long time those areas could be rotted badly. It's a hard place to fix and may not be discovered until inspection time when you've already spent a lot on the car....
