How is that any better than the stock piping? I thought if you took off the corny "resonator," it would be just about as straight-flowing as you can get.

How come it's not the whole piping? I thought it'll be the whole pipe. :( Thanks for putting up the pics buddy.

np yea i was kinda pissed to well you get the filter then theres that stock pipe which curves then u get the aluminum injen part then they also give you that rubber piece which connects to the throttle. So your only stock part you keep is from the filter to the aluminum part but its still a pretty damn big stock part if you ask me.

P.S. Puttin my car pic in the "Photos of Rides Here" thread in a min. Its the pic that was on autotrader when i bought it.

Yeah i 4 get what site but they offered the CAI adapter for this intake. Not sure if its real or works or not but it did say that. Forget who it was but on a post i had awhile back when i first bought it some1 said that they bought the intake to with the CAI but havent heard nuthin from him. If i find his name ill post it.

that intake would work for me. it moves the filter foward a bit towards the fuse box there. that would bring it below the vent and away from the water entering the engine bay.

I like the intake and all but just having that stock piece left is just so ugly. LOL Hmm...you guys know of anyone who sells the whole pipe with the intake? The one's on ebay is like the whole pipe, right? Wonder what quality they are....

i'm curious as to how much you paid for that itty bitty pipe with the Injen sticker on it?

sLADe781

I think he paid about $160-$170 or so. And then there's shipping....cardomain does free shipping.

wow, not to be a bitch, but that's just C-R-A-P crap! he could have gotten a longer pipe that went from the throttle body all the way to the the MAS module just before the intake filter. And it would have been much cheaper. BUT, the thing is it doesn't increase performance at all. its basically just removing the resonator, which in turn makes the intake much louder. almost a RICE mod if you ask me.

Wait, which one will make piping will make the intake louder? The piping that's long or the ones like the Injen above? I like the name.... :p

BOTH piping will make the intake louder. All the piping does is remove the resonator. you can remove the resonator without buying an expensive pipe. just remove it and put a peanut butter jar top in its place, or anything to fill the hole. here is the full intake pipe i was talking about in my post above:

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/123894intake_pipe.jpg

this pipe is basically the same...all it does is replace he resonator. since our engines flow air the very best they can, there's not much room for intake modifications beyond a high-flow filter. yes, you could argue that a CAI would give colder air, but that's a simple mod, just extend a rubber sorta pipe fro the filter to the bumper. Basically all this intake pipe does is make your car look pretty.

just my 2 cents

Yeah, I would want the piping more for the way it looks. That's why I wanted the whole pipe....damn cheap Injen. LOL Stupid question....but what is the resonator? Cause I don't get how you could remove it and then replace it with peanut butter jar top!?!

Oh, and is that your car Linebckr49? What brand is the intake?

Hey bro, thanks! And yeah, I've seen a lot of intakes on ebay but Injen is just more well-known. I know all of 'em essentially do the same thing but I figured there's gotta be something better since it's a brand name....maybe better quality or better filtering or something..... You know what, maybe it's just the sticker! :p

Linebckr49
11-04-2004, 08:47 PM
ya, its just a sticker. the K&N sticker doesn't make the K&N cone filter any better than the cheap $30 cone filters on e-bay. I'd just go with a cheap cone filter off e-bay, they're all the same. unless you're crazy and just want the peace of mind behind the sticker guarantee of a name brand product.

Slade---> no its not my car, just took the pic of a car on e-bay a while back. its just some intake off ebay, not hard to find.

just search for "3000GT intake" on e-bay and you'll a bunch. here's one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7932101112&category=33659

thx...dont have the full exhaust right now just mufflers "Power 1" dont know if you heard of um but their pretty decent. Only thing that sucks with an auto my exhaust sounds mean as hell until you let of the gas haha...because then your silent if i had a stick you get that sexy downshift sound...cant wait for that someday.

I'm looking for pics, I'll post one when I find it, but here are the instructions for removal.

I took some pics of the resonator on my 93 3000GT base. the resonator is located stemming off from the bottom of the intake pipe.

here its circled in yellow:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/123894resonator1.JPG

here is another shot. the circle in red is the hole that you would have to plug up if you were to remove the resonator. i have heard that the top from a peanut butter jar fits quite well.
