Break squeal

I have a 1990 4x4 and the damn thing squeals all the time, except for when I press lightly on the break and then it will stop, but when i let off it starts again. What is the problem? and do those break squeal pads in the toyota performance catalog work? also the truck is stock. thanks for the help.
