Heres some advice for all you grand am owners. DONT RACE A STOCK GRAND AM! you will end up with me, first i blew some seals in my trany, then stripped some gears, then got it replaced for $1500, then i blew my raidiator, then all my piping leaked coolant, coolant everywhere, Tensioner broke, replaced it, headgastket and intake manifold gasket both shot, and alot more other crap... learn from my experiances, dont race it..... occasionally is okay, but yea.... i have about 5000+ dollars worht of dmg to that car just from racing, its not made for it......

obviously...they are slow, slow cars are not usually made for racing. modified, maybe...but stock, no. a grand am is nothing but a grocery getter with a little more pep than most other grocery getters on the road

Sounds like a case of bad luck to me. I drive my Grand Am pretty good (01 w/Quad 4), I use my auto tranny for engine breaking and so on. Mind you even though I do this I still don't kick the crap out of it, but none the less, it shouldn't cause you all that damage.
