Hello,
Can anyone help me identify an engine that I bought very cheaply?
I think it is a MK1 XR2 engine, well I hope! It has an engine code as follows: 771M-6015-CA.
It also has a twin Webber carb that I believe was only on 1.3 or the 1.6 XR2 engine.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Luke

Problem solved!!
I took the rocker cover off and found the stamp with the numbers 37 which according to Haynes manual is an XR2.
Thanks to mechy1barry for the post.
Luke.

771 is the designation for US spec Fiestas. The XR2 was never sold in the US. It sounds like you have a US spec 1600 that has been retrofitted with an XR2 head. XR2s also had a higher compression so it would be interesting if the pistons have been replaced as well.
