i just installed my boost gauge today and i was wondering how much power my car puts out i have an the boost peaks at 18psi and holds steady at about 15.5 i know that the evo holds about 17psi does any one have an idea

I assume you have a 97 GSX. If so, your car must not be stock to be pushing 18 psi. If you have a manual boost controller, turn the boost down to 16 psi. You're putting out minimally more power than stock.

i highly doubt ur pushing 18
Why? I suspect by the "wastegate solenoid," he means the stock BCS. Without any boost control, he should be able to hit 18 psi no problem with those mods.

Read his psot again, he's getting a spike to 18 psi but its set at 15.5. Very common on T25s and other small turbos. Power isnt much more than stock, it was rated at 14 psi roughly .

215ish my rear end, if i had the air box still on there and removed the tube to the outside of the car that would put me a 215, the evo in japan has 300+hp and it puts out 1.5lbs more boost than the evo here there is no way that it is 215ish

if i was running 18lbs why would i want to turn it down to 16 wouldnt 18 put me at 260 270, besides just driving normally i dont really get over 7 or 8

Think whatever you want. Your car has 800hp.
You have no clue what you are talking about.

If we are going to do the gay "how much HP do all the benchracers think I have, holla" threads, lets try to keep them realistic please. These threads are banned on every other board out there worth anything. I dont mind them, I think you can get a reasonable estimate with enough data. But lets be real here, wtf.

If you held 18psi, you would want to turn it down for efficiency. Since it's a spike and you settle lower, it's fine.
besides just driving normally i dont really get over 7 or 8
RPM? That doesn't have much to do with horsepower in this case, but for the record 7000-8000 is way too high to shift on a T25.
I'll put my money on 220hp, but then again, what does it matter how much fake horsepower you think you have? Tell people you have 300.

well that sounds a little more reasonable but does the temp of the air affect how much boost you can run i was running constant 17 earlier, also while im under boost my boost gauge makes a hissing sound. i dont think that it is suposed to do that do you know how i can stop that?

gsxeclipse97, I dont want you to ask any more questions untill u completely read all the stickys, did a seach on the fourms, read everything on www.dsmtuners.com , read everything on www.vfaq.com , read 1000 questions http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/ , and the go down to the book store pick up a $20 book on turbocharging, and then ,and only then come back here and post....
BTW: you probally didnt push the vacume line all the way on in the back of the gauge...

dsmtuners is the biggest dsm forum there is. it's not just classifieds. everything has been said there, if you know how to search. most of vfaq works. 1000aaq works fine. :)

if your boost gauge still leaks try putting a hose clamp on it. that or you bought some cheap shitty ebay guage that the actual guage leaks.

i have an autometer so i dont think that its the guage but i try the clamps thanks
