guys can anyone help me? I need to find a new intake for my car. currently I have the 3sx short ram but with my new hood I am getting water in the intake when it rains. I have to relocate the intake filter. the cold air kit on e-bay looks iffy, dont think that will work! does anyone know if the Injen kit relocate the filter? I need to see some pics of the goddam Injen kit but not even Injen has em! does anyone know of any intake for a 94 base that will move the filter lower towards the front of the car or more towards the engine?

I thought that I read on ebay that with the kit it did relocate the filter, and I've heard that the CAI kits work just dandy, I'll look for some pics for you 2 btw, also, I know it's been said b4, but can u just rig up some contraption to put over the vents, or what's the deal? I'll try and get back to you with some pics tho if I can find them

Italian Lunatic you mean? he is having trouble getting the pics up right now. the thing is I bought sheet metal to try and fab a gutter so water can go in and follow the gutter down away from the filter but the water sticks to the bottom of the metal and trails back up towards the filter. the only clear solution is to patch the vent and render it useless or relocate the filter.

I know I saw one somewhere that was an actual CAI for the N/As that brought it down near the wheel well. Obviously not much better for wet weather...but still it might be an improvement...I'll keep searching for it.

OK, well here is one link...
http://www.midnight-haze.com/engine/coldairintake/
however, they don't seem to have one yet..just a survey, but you could cal them and see what their progress has been...

The other one, I think was the one I was thinking of, is called the typhoon intake...apparently they acutally make real CAI for the 3000gt...I couldn't find any live links...only dead links, but if you do a search on yahoo, you may have more luck than I did.

those guys have been working on it since I got my car over a year ago.......that must be some crappy ass machine shop they got to take so long to fab an intake. I can probably make one is a few hours but I need to source out a distributor to get the pipes.

yeah it was expensive but I dont mind as long as its good quality and it is. I painted it red to match the engine accent, here is a pic of my engine bay. see where the filter lays? thats right under the air vent, thats why I say I need to relocate it somehow.

instead of relocating your intake right away, you might try to put a cold air box around the intake filter. the purpose of this is to block the hot air in the engine bay from getting sucked into the intake, but it could serve a dual purpose on your situation by potentially blocking water from entering the intake.

however, if you really want to relocate the intake, just get some rubber tubing about the thickness of the intake tube, splice it into the intake tube so that it will allow the intake tube to be flexible, then you can move the filter down closer to the transmission. just a thought.

but if you're having issues with water entering the intake, i don't think its coming from underneath the car, rather from the new hood you mentioned. So you might look into fixing the seal that the hood makes with the engine bay to prevent water from entering.

bonne chance!

I've tried everything my friend!
relocating it by making a new intake, cant get the pipe to fit the MAS!

rubber addapter to flex the intake! dont flex enough!
cold air box......it only suffocates the air entering the filter by reducing the ambient area around the filter which would normally feed the intake.

plug the hole.....how? cant weld cause its not metal, cant use glue cause it wont stick, and jb weld didnt work.....I need some sort of ressin and mold it into the hood to plug it from the inside, but I dont know how to mix fiberglass or any other polly resin!

I'm just gonna sellt he hood bro.
