All Hail The Mighty Trans Am!!!

Funny thing happened tonight. As much as I love Trans Ams, this guy just seemed like the biggest Douche in the world. This guy happens to live a few blocks from me and I've always admired his Trans. Gorgeous car. Black. Convertible with Ram Air Hood. I love. Never seen the guy race, but still loved the car the way it looked.

I was coming home from work, had to stay late, and I was on the back roads towards home. I was coming down hill, when I saw him. I was going maybe about 8 mph over. Nothing big here in Utah. I slowly passed him, then I signalled over to get around a car that was in my lane (going slow for the fast lane). So this must have made him mad that Civic passed him, casually I might add.

In doing so, he instantly pulled on my rear. I didn't pay him too much attention. Just kept driving. I obviously know my place with him. So once he had the opening he floored it passed me, and I just admired the sound of his exhaust. Lovely roar to it. Besides the point.

We reached town and were at the light before you entered in. We were both at the light, I had my windows down, and I glanced over at his car to check it out. Next thing I know he revs, and I look up and smile :smile: . Then he rolls down his window and starts yelling, "F-ing Ricer". This caught me off gaurd. :eek7: I don't know why he was yelling, I didn't do any ricer fly-by or anything.

The light changed, and he punched it, I took off normally, and when I reached 50 mph(speed limit) he paced back to my side. Then he started yelling at me again. "C'mon! Where's the NOS? Where's the turbo's?" This pissed me off. Don't know why he was being a jerk. So, I turned down my music, looked over and just said,"UUWWW look at the V8, Oh you proved you can kill me! I'm not worthy!" He shut up and stayed with me until the next light. While waiting for the light to change again, I looked over at him to see he was pissed at me. So I just started bowing to him (Damn No Smiley). He flipped me off of course and took off once the light changed.

HAHA. :loser: Douche... I know, it's not a street racing story, but this guy was just being a jerk for now reason. I think the whole concept of Muscle picking on imports is a little too extreme for some. Sure we are a nuisance to some, but we're not all bad. Right? Well, if anyone has a similar story, please tell. I just want to know how many have experienced stories the same as mine. Late...

Attacked pearl harbor? what? When was the last time you heard a "young" v-8 guy say he hated jap cars because they had a grudge on japan from WWII? Alright, maybe im getting on your case, but you know that was a silly comment. Most young v-8 guys who know anything about cars respect a well moded import. Shit, i don't loose many street races, but im man enough to admit getting smoked by a super light crx with a motor swap and nos (a buddy of mine). V-8 guys are in the minority now, so maybe its an insecurity thing that most v-8 guys are dicks to ricers. Most v-8 guys just hate big wings, not the cars. But im glad civic racer admitted to lusting over trans ams. I know import guys like to ban together to bash v-8s. I actually let import guys drive my car and tell me what they think. You know how many of those guys said my TA was awesome and they wouldn't mind owning one--ALL OF THEM. You should see the look on thier face when i say " u wanna drive it?" Now, if i was given the opportunity to drive a nice supra or car of equal racing heritage, but its an import--i would most deffinatly consider owning one. But how many chances to i get to drive one? Sure most guys won't lend thier ride to some dude who wants to drive it. However, if we all had some common cromrodery (how the hell do u spell that word anyway) and be a little nicer, this whole import/domestic crap would go away.

importeater, I actually used to own a Trans Am. Thats why I show appreciation for them. I know how powerful they are. I hope to own one in the future. But now i'm just learnig on my civic. Nice car btw. Late...

Theres always someone out there that is faster then you are, and driving a fast car in stock form doesn't mean that you are the fastest thing on the road.
I've had people call me a ricer a few times but when I stop and start spouting off different set ups for different cars they normally tend to go back to the "well your car is a 1.3l that sounds like a lawn mower" then I normally get in the fact that I've owned V8s, V6s and inline 4s and none felt as good as my 7 does.
This isn't a bash on v8s because if I were to say that I don't like v8s then I would be stupid and never make any money from building cars. I personally don't like the newer "muscle cars" late 80s- current, for a few reasons 1) they tend to be under powered from the early 80s to the mid 90s untill chevy finally stepped up and made a motor from the factory that had some guts in stock form and could be easly modded for some very nice numbers. 2) I really can't stand alot of the body styles of newer model cars, few exceptions are buick GN, Monte carlo SS (80s and mid 90s), and I've got a soft spot for the mid 80s thunder bird.
With all that said I don't love imports to no end but I do respect those that tune their cars but keep them clean looking, I can't stand the "ricer" look, this includes the new age muscle cars that look riced.
Theres several exampels of this around here with a white mustang that has clear euro tail lights, hugh body kit, stickers all over it, and doesn't sound to have many engine mods done to it, and a newer camaro that I passed the night before last that had a big aluminum wing on it that looked like one from auto zone.

what have you got done to you FC anyways? just curious? ( i'm expectin to hear street ported engine and T4 turbo upgrade for some reason )

Hehe I just have a pace setter header ( I know pos) turbo 2 muflers (not sure if theres any differance) 2.5" y pipe, intake adapter, removed alot of junk that it didn't need, just put my t2 aluminum hood on last week and now I'm saving for a large street ported 13bt, I'm thinking of going full racing beat downpipe back and running a haltech either e6k or e6x(more likely e6k). I'm really making a list of mods that I'm going to do with the turbo engine that I bought and it should get under way of building this winter so I can tear up the track this spring. The T4 may come in with it sometime I'm just not really sure what all I'm going with atm.

Personaly, I prefere the sound of the Import engines (I love the sound of any Euro engine...especially a Bimmer...but I'm biased), but I truely appriciate any well modified car, regardless of what brand. Sure, I personally wouldn't own a Domestic (comes from personal expierience), but that doesn't mean I dont respect things like Vipers, TAs, Cobras, and the like. That guy was an ass, and one day, when he least expects it, he'll get whats comming to him.

yes i drive an import, yes i like imports, but yes i do like domestics too. i've driven various years of mustang GTs, a SVT Lightning, and a couple of trans ams. i love the power of the V8 and i would love to have one...besides the gas-guzzler portion of it...lol but other than that...i kno there is no way in hell i could outrun any of them so i dont mess with them...except for when im bored as hell and i just wanna see how fast they are...lol but other than that...no i dont. i kno my place. some people are just ass's

I have the same problems with muscle car guys too. Its not like I even hate them, but when I used to just drive around in my Integra, people would give me shit all the time. I'm like...I'm 18 and still in high school, soon as I get out of college and you are serving my fries, I'll look around and see your now 60 year old car and see my beautiful Porsche...then who is the bitch....

I hate it when people act like they have to prove something, imports and domestics alike, but it seems lately the domestic lovers get on my ass all the time. I know a guy with a 460 in his F250 (like early 90s), a guy with a 350 in his 67 Nova SS, and my buddy is thinking of throwing a small-block 350 in his S-10....but they don't give me shit. normally me and my buddies leave imports and ricers alone unless they do fly by's.. then we either just take off.. or rev at them to show them that they're just a waste of time after they hear the exhaust note.. other then that the only imports that i've seen worth racing.. is people's car's that i know... like my buddies Turbocharged Honda S2000 which keeps up with 03 and 04 cobras only loses by about a half a car length.. which is actually really good..and my other buddies tt 300zx which is insanely fast.. and then another buddies 10 second civic

I have friends like that. One of them just spend 3500 on a motor and can't tune the carb for it. I don't think he even built the bottom end and his camaro runs 15's; but apparently to him the Integra Type R in our school parking lot is a huge POS and he'd beat it.

It`s good to see that people can appreciate both Muscle cars and Imports as both cars have their good points, you cant beat the handling and turbo power of an Import but likewise you cant beat the raw power of a V8 and especially the noise that a V8 makes, simply awesome. Its a shame that certain people from both sides spoil things by acting like idiots and bad mouthing the other without any real knowledge. Surely it should all be about the love of cars and the thrill of the race. I`d love the chance to go for a blast in a V8, but unforuntately they are few and far between here.

It's pretty obvious most of the "muscle heads" around my area don't know Sh$t about motors, because if they did, they would notice my truck is camming pretty damn hard. They must think I have a bad plug or something and it's just missing. Either way, I love the look on their face when I slow down and they finally catch back up.

As far as imports go, I appreciate anything fast. Period. The guys that try way to hard to "look" fast and do nothing for performance get no respect here. Sorry, but if you're gonna look the part, you better be ready to back it up, or take the chance of getting heckled by my crew.

^Agreed. I like fast vehicles. Period. Doesn't matter whether it's American, Italian, Japanese, Korean, etc. Doesn't matter if it's a hatchback, roadster, or pickup. If it's fast, I want it.

yea i dont have as much respect for guys who go for all looks and no go...but it depends on how well it looks, and if they just left the factory muffler on there or not...i think it looks stupid when these guys put on body kits and leave the factory muffler on there...they couldn't spend another couple hundred to get the aftermarket muffler put on there?

Yah I love the sound of camming v8....whats the specs on your cam? The cam in my is just a mild one. I'm thinking that will be my next mod.

I love any fast car. Period. I didnt take offense to his post even though I own only muscle cars, because I know his story is the exception and not the rule. I am nice to EVERY driver on the road, because as stated earlier, "there is always something faster", and you never know what that little civic next to you has under the hood. I personally dont think the muscle vs. import wars are as bad as people think they are. I think we just all need to get along =).

PS: what are the specs on the cam in your truck? Im curious as well.

Everyone took my post the wrong way! I guess I was talking outta my ass, seriously I do appologize for being a dickhead. I respect muscle cars too but 90% of the drivers piss me off, I have never in the 9 years I have been racing met a V8 guy who was cool, I knew a few that where down untill they saw I drove an import. guess I'm just unlucky or there is something in the water here. also I have never seen an import guy go up to a muscle guy and talk smack, its always the muscle guys who pull up to an import and laugh and call him a 4 banger or a ricer. so I was wrong to speak outta personal experience and stereotype everyone, my opinions are not fact so please excuse my previous post.

The cam in my 6.0L is a custom ground Thunder Racing TR224.

Specs- 224/224 .563/.563 114 LSA

The Power band is from 1700-6600rpm. I chose this cam because of the badass mid and high range rpm power. I have a TCI 3000 stall, so I could give up a little low end. It has a nice lope at idle as well. :grinyes:

one day i will have a highly modded 2nd generation RX-7 with 3rd generation 13B turbo pushing 450+hp... i dunno if ill rice it out with ass can exaust and huged assed spoiler then show all the Muscel car guys whats up or kick a few dents in it and then show anyone whats up...oh well. i preer the sound of a high modded i-4 or i-6 to the sound of a dep v8. now im not talking thedirt bike sounding cars, i light the deep one tone sound at lower RPM's and a triumphant roar at 7000+RPM's. however i do respect Classic's and modern domestics...

everyone knows that a TT300ZX stock would blow the doors off of a stock and even lightly modded GT one thing i have noticed.. is the majority of Mustang owners have their heads so far up their ass it makes me gag.. but there are some owners that're hella cool.. it's just most of the people that there parents buy them the car and they think they're all pimp shit and nothing can beat them... lol
