2001 Rodeo Brake Light issues

When brake pedal is depressed tail lights go out and third brake light comes on. No lower brake lights. Without the brake pedal being depressed tail lights work as advertised. This was observed with the car in park, engine running and headlights on. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Check your hitch wiring harness.

very common problem buy some aftermarket bulbs the ones isuzu sticks in it dont seem to hold up very well also when replacing them lift up on the terminals in the sockets besure the key is off

What do you mean by lifting up on the terminals??

Last week some guy told me I had no brake lights at all, when I got home and checked they seemed to be ok but the tail lights were definately dim. Ive gotta open them up and have a look.
