I have the engine light on and the engine misses ever so often. Does any-one have a code reader I could borrow or rent. Dam those things are expensive to buy. Over $200 at Canadian Tire and that is on sale tis week. Or the want over $100 to read the codes. Any-one I live in the Toronto area.

I asked a few of the parts stores in my area and non will rent them or read the codes. The only option I have at this point is to take it to dealer for a scan at a price of $115.00

Oh, man that sucks!
If you anticipate this sort of thing happening again (i.e. if you intend to keep your Genuine GM car) you may want to pony up the USD 200 or so and have your own code reader which unfortunately probably won't have all the codes (only the dealer has ALL the codes in their machines).
Wow. I thought I would have to pay big $ to have my code read when my vehicle speed sensor went south, but they ended up charging me only $42!!
Maybe try another dealer if you haven't already.

I have a 99 Intrigue. As I mentioned I have a steady engine light on and the car does miss at times during acceleration I also enjoy tinkering with cars My problem is my old code reader can not be used on this car. I did go to Canadian Tire to price out the new code readers and they want around $300. I live in Markham ( woodbine & 16th) if you are in the area how much will you charge to pull the codes. Email me at nexxia03@yahoo.com

.Well I fixed the stumpling at various speeds. I decided to start with the plugs and that was it. Problem fixed. Don't believe GM when they claim that the plugs will last 160,000km or 100,000 miles. Mine start going at 105,000km or 60,000 miles. I guess the gas in the Toronto area is bad. I have heard many experts claim that our Canadian gas is loaded with sulfur I now believe. Oh yaw it was a bear trying to remove the spark plug boots they were almost melted on the plugs and for 1 of the plugs I had to remove the oxgen sensor in order to remove the plug 3.8 engine

That just means when it's time for a tune-up Gm recommends you replace the Cylinder Heads Too!, I hope you removed the Alternator, it gives you a bit more room, when changing the plugs/wires.
