what is tuning in its whole? Is there more to it than additions, like bolt ons, engine swap, turbo, exc...? Does anyone do more than add parts to their car?

Tuning IMO, is actually messing with your car's parameters, ie fuel and ignition maps, that sort of thing. Adding I/H/E is not tuning IMO, that's just adding parts.

are cam gears good for low end torque?

no, they just adjust cam timing. You can get a little HP with them though, not much.

adjustable cam gears are used to shit your powerband. if you dont know what that means dont worry about buying them

Yeah Intake, Header, Exhaust, and bigger throttle body are really good starters. Later like people said you should read about your car and ask people about how to tune with adjustable cam gears,Hondata, cams, and such. Also if you have the money port and polishing maybe bigger valves will help also especially with bigger cams.

Don't get camgears with stock camshafts. I

why not?

My friend is getting cam gears even though he has stock cams. He's also getting a turbo installed pretty soon, but nonetheless you can squeeze a little horsepower playing with the cam timing.
