My passenger side window in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee will not go down (or up). A dealer quoted me to fix it at $304 plus tax. He said it was the motor for the power windows. Can someone tell me what I need to buy and I'll find someone who can fix it?

have u checked to c if the windo will go down by pressing the passengers window button, I have a similar problem in my 94 ZJ, whenever my son rolls the window up or down, I try to rolls it up or down and it does nothing I have to hit the button on his door to get it to do anything I think the button maybe sticking or something (no big deal).

try the passsenger side button just to comfirm that the motor is bad, if it goes down using the passemger side button but still won't operate when pushing the the driverside button, then the switch in the door is prolly bad, or the wires that run from the door to the jeep are bad (check the door jam, they get caught and break easily here).

if it still won't work then the motor is most liekly bad and need to be replaced. also check to make sure the motor is operating (making noises) sometimes the motor isn't bad, the Glass Mechanism breaks loose from the motor.

if it does not operate at all no noises and neither switch operates the window, then u will need to replace the Motor (regulator)

Check out some junk places that specializes in Jeeps or some pick-and- pull auto yards...a friend got a window motor for his 97', going on almost 2 years now, all for $85.

I was told a new window regulator from the local Jeep dealer was $240, and I think $60 to install it.
I found one on ebay like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6763&item=7931444225&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) and installed it myself in about 30 minutes.

I did try to put the window down from both switches - it didn't work. It's not making noise - the dealer said it was the motor. I just put a bid on e-bay - $43 for the motor and regulator. I had a problem with my sensor shaft hickamajigger - it was from this website that saved me bucku bucks. I found someone to install it - for next to nothing. THANKS A MILLION GUYS!!! NEXT TIME I HAVE A PROB WITH MY JEEP, I'LL BE SURE TO CHECK WITH YOU GUYS FIRST!
