99 Ford Escort stick light out

In the center console of my 99, I have my gear shift for shifting into P,N,R,D,1,2. The light thats underneath to light up the P,N,R,D,1,2 burned out or a fuse went bad or something. How can I fix this? Do I need to tear apart the center console and just replace a bulb, or is there a fuse that I can switch out? Has anyone else had this problem?

i just replaced the bulb... and yes you gotta tear it appart piece by piece.. while you do that you masswell adjust and lube the linkage..

Replaced mine in my 1993 myself.It was just a bulb.
