yeah, if you can get 174 WHP off a SOHC Y8 VTEC from edelbrocks turbo kit, with the LS you better be able to get around 200+ WHP on stock internals from boost.

fastest, easiest, and cheepest way has to be nitrous for 5-6 hundred you can get a good dry or wet system, 2 hour install at most retard the ignition a 4 degrees and and you got another 75 hp over what you had. over 200 to the flywheel should be around 200 to the wheels. just becarefull not to lean it out and detonate.

man these people actually do daily driving...turbo is the way to go...nobody is gonna pump some nitrous just to get to mcdonnald's 2 seconds faster....nitrious is only hardcore racers

i use nitrous on my daily driver with 94 octane and the right timing and fuel pressure theres no problem with reliability and its only on when i want it on. unlike a turbo thats almost always making boost. ive had a lot more reliability problems with the turbo cars ive worked on plus the turbo is about 2g's or more higher in price than n20. plus its great to see the face on the guys in the v8's when i spray and pass them. and then again no one has mentioned supercharges!!!

superchargers are expensive just like turbos, and I agree that N20 is more bang/buck in the beginning but the turbos always there and once its on your car its basically free from there on in, dont have to fill bottles, dont have to have a big bottle taking up space in the car. and with a turbo you can drive a bit more agressive if you wanted to, with N20, its WOT/spray or cruising around without alot of power, no compromise.

you make good points (it is about $35 per bottle fill, and most people are trigger happy when 1st installed) but i can still make good power and drive very agressive off the bottle as well. i guess it mostly comes down to driving habits, buget, and how much you depend on your ride (down time sucks if you dont have another ride). and y just 200hp give us some more info on your situation dmfnded and what you had in mind with your project.

well yeah, I am sure id be really trigger happy when I first ha it in, I mean press a button and get 50+HP, what a rush. one of the reasons I wont let myself buy a kit right now, til im a bit more mature maybe.

oOOoooOoo!!!! Dang, well i say turbo cuz, you dont have to do all that refill and its motor friendly. All those refills can add up to a turbo kit, well its your choice tho. Im getting a garrett turbo myself.

guess i'm just more or less looking for normal engine upgrades.you know, cams, ignition, intake, exhaust.I mean, for a B18A1 motor, what would be the price tag to get there? Was always easier/cheaper on a V8-change heads/compression ratio, cam carb and throw it on the NOS.

if youre still talking about 200HP, hell yeah its easier with a V8, most of the time you dont even gotta do anything.
but for your B18A1, I think 200WHP NA wont be very cheap. but Id say raise the compression a bit, get some forged internals, some agressive cams, P&P the head and upgrade the valvetrain for some more revs, basics like I/H/E, and then get it tuned right and you should have a good amoutn of power, cant tell you exact but it could get close to the 200 mark, I know with stock compression and I/H/E though its only about 113 WHP last time I saw a dyno, could have been forged though so their product looked better, it was a comparo of bolt ons vs their SC.
with hotter cams, higher compression, head work and higher revs its possible to get up there, maybe 180+, but I couldnt really tell you cuz Ive never built up a B18 or any b series for that matter and may be dead wrong.
pistons - 400-500
rods - 350-450
cams - 500-700
bolt ons 400-500
those are what I remember seeing for prices, rest of it i cant remember and I have no idea how much a P&P job costs.
