2004 shift knob

my friend has a 2004 jeep wrangler sport and he's been trying to get the stock shift knob off to get an aftermarket one and the shift knob doesn't seem to want to come off. is there a secret to it or does it just not come off?

It should be screwed on, might need to put some big leverage on it to get it off.

we tried to unscrew it but it wont budge. it might just need as lot of leverage, i could try using a monkey wrench.

Maybe his Jeep likes its shift knob. I've got an 04 Wrangler also, it's very tight on there. Pipe wrench and a cheater bar may be needed. Of course, you could always swing by the stealership and ask a shop guy there if he has any secrets. Don't cost nuthin'.
