i am considering doing an engine swap - what set ups would you guys recomend - all motor? turbo? what conversions are good too? and how much would it cost to do it - the parts - and then about what it would cost for instalation and tunning - budget is not really an issue right now . . but give me some variety

everyone says budget isn't an issue, but it would be really helpful if we did have a realistic budget to work with.

Anyhow, the one I recommend to everyone doing is a B18B swap and turbo. For the complete swap and turbo kit plan on spending about $5000. About another $1000 to install the turbo kit and probably about another $1000 to do the swap. Around $250-500 for tuning and I think that just about covers it. A lot of corners can be cut though cause you can install the kit while doing the swap which will cut down on labor time.

well that sounds about right - i have a civic coupe - about how quick would it be without building the internals and shit, like after i spend the 5k, how quick am i lookin at? how hard is it to throw on a vtec head? or do a gsr swap - and throw on an ls head then turbo the bitch? or a b20 head? - budget - lookin to stay around 5k

Umm.... roflmao!

If you do a gsr swap, you wouldn't want to put an ls head on it. The ls is non/vtec. It's a good motor to boost because of low compresion, but if you have a gsr engine already, you don't need to swap a diff head.

(nice acronym)

If price isn't an issue and you want to stay all motor try the synthesis of the CRV head and K20A block or is it the other way around K20A head and CRV block. If you do I think it has to be a recent model CRV however. I don't know but I think you might be able to turbo that set up.

No shit, if money wasn't an issue, I wouldn't be rolling around in a Sentra and contemplating getting another Civic to play with. Hell, I'd have a pre-production C6 Z06 sitting in my garage.

If you want something to be quick in your civic try a Ls/Vtec swap buy Ls block and mate it with a head off of a Dohc, such as a b-16 si head or a Gsr head. That would give u instant bang for your bucks. Then later when wanting more from your engine you can change internals such as rods, pistons, sleeves, etc.... Build the head at this same time with Cams. Adjustable Gears, Valves & Springs. After that you will have the perfect foundation for a bad a$$ turbo install with the correct fuel and ignition upgrades. That would be on of the best ways to work around a tight budget...

Also if money is not an issue and you want to stay honda. I have only three letters for you NSX.. But from experience money is always an issue. I know i don't have 80 to 100 g's layin around. Not hating on you just trying to be realistic. :grinyes:

is that what NSX's are going for? damn... i'll need a bigger penny jar.

if money weren't an issue, i'd still have my civic.

of course, it'd be mid-engine, with an oddysey v6, rebuilt and turbocharged.

and it'd be the daily driver i park next to my Viper ;)
