Hi All,
I am new to this site and any insight would be appreciated. Yesterday, after school, my car would not stay started. It drove in the mornig fine but I did notice at red lights the engine would sound weak? On the freeway it was fine. After school, the car would start (not pressing on the gas pedal) and then it would die out with the "battery" and "check engine" light on, then the "oil" light would come on. I tried repeatedly to re-start and this time press on the gas pedal and reving the engine. Eventually it started, but this morning it did the same thing.
I just had the battery changed (the original one lasted me almost 10 years!) at PepBoys and took it to my mechnic to check the charging system, and I think the alternator too (are they the same thing?). I put in a new started earlier this year and don't know what else could be wrong. :cry
I do have an alarm in there that I do not use anymore. It quit on my a couple of years ago and a co-worker suggested it could be an electrical problem?
Sorry so long and I appreciate any advice in advance. I really love my car and want to take it to around 200,000 miles, I have 135,600 now and have been told the car should last quite a bit longer.
Thanks again!
