I have a 86 Rx-7 with twin turbos. I also have cold air, short throw shifter just to start. Think i could beat a Mx-6? my buddy has one and he thinks he can take me.

haha, if you seriously don't know... the only way he'd beat you is if he started at the finish line or something. He wouldn't have a chance unless it's like a modified drag car or something.

lol. . .funny that you question your rx-7. i have an mx-6 and they are sluggish as hell. they pick up nice, but do not make as near as much power as your rx-7, and i assume that you have bpu so you'd for sure crush it. mx-6 potential is only really high 13's unless he's done some crazy turbo set up. lol

wow mis-informed people again
there are lots of factors to this race, how many miles does your car have? are both turbos still factory spec?
also what year mx6? GT or Lx if 1st gen?
LS or base for 2nd gen?
if he has a 1st gen mx6 Gt with a FE3 he will destroy you....if not you should be able to take him.

i had a 1991 rx7 5 speed, non-turbo, it was the slowest damn car i had, i raced a 93 4cylinder mx6 and lost like a puppy, he put couple car lengths between us, then i got smart and bought a 93 ls, i think mx6s can do a lot, i dunno about the turbos you have but if he thinks he can take you that means he has something to show you!
i would count on the name RX7, because they are
incredibly overrated if you ask me.

I agree with midnightmx6. If he has a 88-91 GT with the boost turned up to about 15psi, you are in trouble. You would probably beat any 2g that is stock, though.

im suprised how many people open their mouths when they really know nothing. Like MidnightMX6 said, there are a LOT of factors. One of wich is also you're driving experience (Actually one of the biggest factors).

korrrra i think there was something wrong with your rx-7 cause i have them same thing (but an 88 gxl) and i blew away alot of cars with that, including a gen 1 and 2 mx-6....but i would have to say if you just looked that the cars, the 7 should win, my 6 is fast too but ive done quite a bit too it, i was impressed when it was stock, can hit 60mph in 2nd which gives it great potential with short runs....i guess well find out though huh.... :)

I want to know what engine is under the hood of this guy's car. Rx-7s in the US didnt even come with turbos until 1987 and twin turbos werent available until the 1993 RX-7. So what are you running? 13B? 13BT? 13B-RE? 13B-REW? I'm just curious. If you really do have an 86 with twin turbos or a twin turbo engine swap then I apoligize. But I just figured that someone with a twin turbo rx-7 should know that they will probably beat an mx-6
