does this mean when you shut off the car and then right away try to start it again it won't start. Or are you talking about when you let it sit and then try to start it later?

It has to be your battery. If your altinator is fine and working. I would say wires but, if someone is giving you a jump and it fires up, then it is not the battery cables. Since you put a new battery in, nothing is going to drain it that fast. The only other thing I can think of is maybe your fusiable link for your charging system is blown.

im not so good with the techinical stuff yet i just started working on cars, do u know where the whole fusible link thing is and is it just a replacable part? the battery i used wasnt new it was a used one but it was charged, well any way sorry for the stupid questions but im a begginer

well it could still be the cables i think although im not an expert what if the cable someplace along the line was bad and when he hooks the jumper cables up its to the batery posts not the other end of the cables right so i would try replacing the cables if i were u what about when u first got the battery and put it in did it start that very first time on its own, could also be the starter though if its not the cables. oh and does it just do this after youve been driving awile cause if under the hood gets real hot sometimes somethin in the ignition system i forget what but anyway if its real hot it dosent give enough power off to start the car.

well i checked the cables and looks like a hot wire was touching ground right by the starter and i guess that was draining it, i sealed that cable with electrical tape and its working pretty good now...hope it starts up fine in the morning
