well how extreme do you wanna go. I helpped a buddy of mine strip down his 240sx and here is what we did:
a/c was first to go. compressor = aprox. 60lbs + condensor and ac lines, motor, and heater saved about 80 lbs.
sound system= aprox. 25lbs
rear seats = 40 lbs
front seats swapped out for some nice bucket seats = saved 10lbs each.
gutted trunk = aprox. 35 lbs.
carbon hood = shaved off 15 lbs
thats 215 lbs and probably more cause it was over a year ago and I dont remember the exact weights. he also got some light weight racing rims and swapped out the read windshield for a lightweight plexy glass one but I dont know the figures for that.

Whoa, I don't know if I'd be willing to get rid of my AC and sound system. That would be a sad day. :(

Are you looking to simply drop lbs...or replace stuff, like seats and rims? Because as far as simply losing pounds...you are going to lose luxury with the lbs...all the stuff that would go first really doesn't weigh that much. Example, spare tire, rear seats, trunk interior...you wont lose that much weight.

gut your trunk, put a whole aftermarket exhaust on from the downpipe back, take out your backseats and rear seatbelts, run 1/8th tank of gas, and your looking at 200lbs of weight reduction

So what does 200lbs do in terms of end times on our cars? I heard once that taking 10lbs off of a car was like adding 1 hp, is this true?

General rule of thumb is for every 100lbs, you lose a .1 on your 1/4. Again this is only a very general rule of thumb.

I wish they would have given us the weight estimations on that golden gto they featured ni super street once, the thing looks like a show car on the outside but is completely stripped.
