Rear Light Failure

I have noticed many posts about clearing this message and resetting the service engine soon message.
I have fixed my Daughter's JGC twice now and both times we thought all the lights were on, The first time it was the License plate 1 bulb out, Plus The left bulb on the high center brake light, I read in the past that the probable cause of the high failure rate on the high center light may be someone sitting behind the wheel with their foot on the brake (lighting the light) and the hatch is opened and then slammed shut, It's kinda like bumping or dropping a trouble light while it's on, The jar breaks the filament because it's in a near molten state when on, Just a theory of mine, Same thing applies to slamming the dryer door on your clothes dryer.
Yesterday her display said rear brake failure and it was the little side marker light on the passenger side, When I unplugged it and plugged it back in after wipping it off it worked and the message was gone.
Her service engine reminder is saying 0 miles to service, I got it changed to 7000 miles as recommended from jeep ??. But I can't seem to get it to start over at the 7000 miles, Do you have to hold one of the buttons for 3 seconds to reset it from zero to the programmed 7000 miles, It seems like i read that here somewhere ??. These computers are very nice but can be very frustrating too.
