i have an 88 n/a supra. it has bad main bearings and needs to be rebuilt.
ive been thinking of replacing the engine and the crazy thought came to me to put the tt motor from the newer supras in it. is this even possible? if so, how much work and money would it take? would it be worth it? or would i be better off swaping in the 7m-gte from another 88?
help me out if u can please.

Welcome to 88 hell. I have one too. The MKIV which you are refering to had the 2JZGTE 3.0L tiwn turbo. It will fit fine. You will need a new subframe. The ECU/wiring harness will be needed. As well as the transmission. Expect to spend at $6000 to $8000 for the swap. It may be had cheaper but its best to plan to go over budget. Even easier is the 1JZGTE. It is the older 2.5L version of the engine. It came in the MK III Supras. Half cuts can be found online. Make sure it is complete with an ECU, wiring harness, and transmission. You can also get an early 90s Soarer (Lexux SC300) half cut. It will have everything except the subframe. In 89 Toyota made a change in the motor mounts. You will need the front cross member off an 89-92 Supra. This swap can be brought in for $3000 to $5000. Both are worth it. You can also make some serious power out of the 7M line for about the same price as a swap.
