Headers

Im looking to get some aftermarket headers for my ram.

alright...ill prolly bid on them. I was debating about it for awhile, but i just won 250 bucks from bettin on football so i figure i would do it before i spend the money on something stupid

Yea thats not too bad, but there are better deals on headers just as good out there. Check Summit Racing, ACME Truck, J.C. Whitney, and other places first.

I've put the nickle plated gibson shorty headers on my truck. Shorty headers are the only way to go. No cutting of exhaust pipes just unbolt manifolds and bolt headers back in their place. Left side is alot of FUN!!!

Besides the fact of Chevies having restrictive exhaust manifolds, I had always thought that it was only practical to put headers on those engines. I used to think that they only put them on those cars because they had their hoods open all the time for breakdowns, and it gave them something to look at while they were fixing their motors. They hold more ornamental value to me than for performance, and I was even told that the Mopar manifolds are so passive that you would actually be wasting money and maybe even wrecking efficiency/performance to put headers on. I don't know if that's true, but it makes me think.

The headers in that picture remind me of the ram head hood ornament that they used to put on the older trucks. That looks cool as hell, I would certainly buy them.

yeah i won. Hopefully ill get them installed this weekend as long as they get here soon. One of my friends is a mechanic and he is gonna help me out. I need to redo the front half of the exhaust anyway....sounds like there is a leak somewhere and it takes away sound from the back.

Headers are usually tuned with each tube exactly the same length as the next. When the exaust pulse reaches the end of the tube it theoretically creates a vacuum in the tube and aids in scavaging exaust from it's cylinder. The tuned part is the length of the tube determines the RPM that the headers provide the most benefit. Unless I'm FOS your engine may run lean after installation of headers.
