i went by a car dealer today and they had a new 2005 gt. so i went home, got my mustang and went there wanting to test drive. if i had my car they would let me drive one i thought b/c i have the last model and want to move up. well she gave me the run around asking me how much money i pay a month for my car and how much i owed and she said that the new one will be 700 a month. i was like you have to be F*ckin joking. what a rip off. it was 28,900 plus a 3000 dealer mark up making it 31,999. she wouldnt let me drive it unless i was ready to buy and pretty much had the cash on me. i thought the car is 24K for the gt and 18K for the V6. i dont get these places. so i said screw it. i was looking at it and wow. its not worth that at all. it has a single stage paint. and orange peal up the ass. on my car, (2000) it has a base coat / clear coat. and the front noise area such as the grill was real flimsy and cheap.. i didnt like it much. anyone test drive one? they said it has 305 hp. if it runs like it looks it cant be good.

regardless of how good/bad the paint is, it's still an incredibly hot car. i heard they run high 13s out of the box. a markup like that is pretty rediculous tho.

Screw that place. I, for a short time, sold cars. Car sales people are mostly, not always, liars and legalized thieves. Never buy a vehicle that has a dealer mark up. It's a scam that you will never benefit from. Wait a few months until the hype wears off. If the bitch sales lady won't allow you to drive that car (I love Mustangs, but it's not a $100,000.00 car) ask for the manager. And dress like you are a serious buyer. The sales people have made their mind up about you before ever speaking to you. I'm not picking on you, but single stage paint jobs have been against federal law to perform for several years. Good Luck.

i hear ya. i might just wait it out and see if chevy comes out with the new camaro in 07. who knows. anyways. the piant on that car is single stage. it was red. it had no clear coat on it. you can clearly see that. look like ppg concept. not worth fighting over.

How can you tell a car has single stage from looking at it? How can you tell it has no clear?

The Ford website says that paint is clearcoated. Maybe that dealer had gotten their hands on a prototype?
Either way, if the paint is bad then I have a good excuse to get a wicked paint job. :naughty:

Most dealerships don't want these cars test driven because they want to keep the miles off of them. Our dealership won't let them be test driven unless the person looking can buy it right then.
Or if you work at the dealership (lol) Those Gts are fast! The coupe aint too bad neither.
Give them a couple of months and they will allow you to drive them more once they start getting more in.

I test drove one yesterday, no problems. The dealer had 2 GT's and 2 V6's, he was willing to give up one for 3 - 4 hours with no problem. Just depends on who you go to.

I'm 20 years old with a 94 GT Convertible (brand new paint job) I drove to the dealership to planning on looking at the 05 GT. The dealer offered in the first 2 minutes if I wanted to test drive it. Of course, I did. He wouldn't let me take it on the road but they had a huge empty lot in the back so I had enough room to run it from one side, bark 2nd, go bout midway through 2nd then slam the brakes. It was really nice. Even with power shifting I couldn't get it to kick sideways in 2nd but it would spin them for a moment. The dealer then let me hop out and my friend rag on it too. Not too bad. I was suprised as hell when he let me drive it. I really loved the factory short throw. It seemed to be about as long of a throw as my Pro 5.0

Yeah theres a lot of that going around, I went to the dealership because I've been eyeing this 03 mystic cobra conv. So I decided to stop and check it out, nobody even bothered comming out. Its ok, because at 43,800 they could keep it.
