Since GM killed Oldsmobile, is the 3.5 in any new model or is that dead too?

I know that they are using a 3.5L in the new Pontiac G6, but it's not the same as the Olds engine.

No, and it's a crying shame, too. It could have been used in some of GM's new fleet, such as the G6 and the lacrosse. They probably discontinued it so they could make dohc 6s with vvt.

GM is actually making an engine with VVT???!!!! But, that's expensive!! And it requires technical expertise...... :lol2:

Umm, if you look at the G6 engine closely, it appears to be an enlarged 3.1/3.4 OHV engine by looks and the bore and stroke. I have an intrigue with the 3.5 DOHC. It's a good motor and all, but it's kind of a pansy engine as fars as specific output. Compared to the Honda 3.0 and even GM's new 3.6 VVT, the 3.5 falls short. Compared to the Honda's specific output (80 hp/L) the intrigue should make about 280 hp, (which I would take 250). Anyways, what is really impressive is the new 2.8L vvt v6 that makes 215hp as a base engine in the CTS.
